Since so many of you have asked me about my health, I wanted to provide a little information regarding my condition in the hope that I could keep someone else from having to go thru all I have gone thru.  PLEASE, Take control of your health care.  Don't just sit back and accept the diagnosis, don't let yourself be misdiagnosed by doctors and medical professionals.  Be sure to get more than one opinion and keep looking until you get answers.   This is something that I was definitely not prepared for , never had a thought that something like this could happen to me and really had no idea that this type of problem even existed and what it could do to you.  I think the worse part of it has been trying to find medical help.  There are few medical professionals that know about the condition or  how to deal with it.
My accident occurred in January of 2002,  I was knocked down by a horse while out in the pasture feeding and checking on mares.  Since that time I have had burning pain in my hands, back pain, problems walking, problems with my balance,  lately fatigue has become a major problem along with a constant aching pain in my body (much like when you have a bad case of the flu) and I am loosing my strength.  I have visited various types of medical offices, but it wasn't until late 2003 that I found someone that thought I even had a problem.  Most of the medical professionals  thought I was just complaining and that the problem was in my head.   I have had several types of injections (pain blocks) for pain management including epidural blocks, none have really worked.  Finally in 2004 I had neck surgery and lower back surgery.  This helped some of the problems, but not all. and my condition continues to get worse.  I am no longer able to train and work with the horses, often they will almost know me down just nudging me for a pat.   There are times I don't even have the energy to walk out to the barn.  Either my husband has to do the work or I have to hire someone.  As you can imagine this is extremely difficult for me as I have always been a hands on person who did most of the work myself.   This condition also works on your mind--memory, thinking and talking is sometimes a problem.
For most pain management people the solution is  the use strong drugs.  I preferred being able to have a clearer head and think a little for myself, which led me to doing research on the internet.  Much can be done with diet, vitamins and supplements and natural solutions.  A TENS machine has also helped me a lot.  Physical therapy is also essential.
Because of the problems I have had getting help, I wanted to provide some information to others that might be in the same situation or know someone who is.    I have learned that you definitely have to take control of you life and your medical care.  Do not trust to just one opinion and one doctor.  Keep reading, keep doing research and talk to people.  Since I started our dispersal sale I have talked to many people who have a similar condition and the information and encouragement I have received from them has been a great help.  Thank you all so much.
You may think you just have some normal aches and pains, but if you have had some type of accident prior to these problems, PLEASE  go to these links and read the information.  If you have more than normal problems, don't let it go too long.  Remember, the longer it goes undetected the harder it is to do something about these types of problems.  The following are a few links that will provide some information on the conditions I have been diagnosed with.
